Prosody is a crucial factor in the dialectal identification but it has received so far little attention in the major research fields. This work aims at investigating the geoprosodic variation of some dialectal areas of Italy by means of a dialectometrical approach; it highlights the main differences in terms of prosodic features. This kind of analysis allows the description of the geoprosodic variation by means of a common protocol and the representation of the prosodic affinity of the analysed samples. For the sake of clarity and ease of comprehension, the graphics related to each variety (mean of the three repetitions and declarative/interrogative modalities) have not been printed in this section but are available at the following links: www.lfsag.unito.it/distanze/appendix.hmtl

Valentina De Iacovo holds a PhD in Digital Humanities (Doctoral School offered by the Universities of Genoa and Turin) and she currently works at the Dept. of Foreign Languages of the University of Turin, focusing her studies on speech archives and prosodic variation. She is working in the Italian section of the International AMPER Atlas Multimédia Prosodique de l’Espace Roman project.
